These prices assume that no special handling is required. They also assume that each reel nominally contains the rated amount of film. For example, a 400 foot reel shoul contain about 400 feet of film. If there is less film on a reel than the next smaller reel the next lower charge will be assessed. On the other hand, if a reel contains an amount of film significantly above the reel rating a special handling fee of $15.00 will charged. This is because when reels are overloaded they are are difficult to handle.
Since these films are old there may be a problem with weak splices. If more than two resplices are required during handling of the film an additional fee will be charged.
If the film is found to be in critical condition, the preservation transfer will be halted and the customer contacted to determine what further handling should be done.
This pricing structure simplifies calculating the cost of the service. For large quantities of film other pricing may be negotiated. Please contact us you have questions concerning quantity discounts.
